An important moment of solidarity on Friday 27 May, at the tourist port “La Madonnina” for the official inauguration of the SEABIN, a collector of floating waste (especially microplastics) installed in the port of the city.
The national service project of the Round Table Italy, started in the 2020/2021 social year and supported by Winni’s ended positively. The promoting tables were Round Table 51 Lucca and Round Table 53 Carrara Val di Magra, with their respective past presidents Lorenzo Natali and Giovanni Terrano, assisted by the national past president Martino Mercatali and the past president V Zona Nicola Marino.
Present at the event were the Municipality of Viareggio with Councilor Rodolfo Salemi, the President of iCARE Viareggio Moreno Pagnini, Sea Risorse with the President Valentina Ceragioli and the Executive Linda Tomei, and Marevivo with the Delegate Marina Gridelli.
For Round Table, the National President Daniele Cusi, the President of Quinta Zona Tommaso De Sando, as well as a Delegation of Round Table 51 Lucca led by President Simone Amato. A class from the La Tenuta di Viareggio elementary school was present at the meeting and thus witnessed the commissioning of the seabin.
The project for the commodity study of the waste fractions collected by the seabin will be followed by Marevivo also with the participation of the Port Authority of Viareggio, very sensitive to the issue of the marine ecosystem: the Zero Waste Observatory will study the type of waste intercepted in a to modulate strategies to reduce production.
